Creative Arts Teacher

I'm sure excited to join the Phoenix Academy family! It is my first year teaching at this school, but I've been a teacher in the east central MN region for over 20 years. It has been wonderful to be able to bring two of my passions (teaching and theatre) together in one place! It's a fun challenge to balance the performing arts and visual arts portions of my role as the Creative Arts Teacher. I love to build relationships with all the Phoenix Academy students, getting to know them as people with interests beyond the walls of the classroom.

I live nearby in Isanti, MN with my husband and three children. Theatre is a passion for each of us! My husband, Aaron, is the choir teacher at Cambridge-Isanti High School and directs and does choreography for the school's fall musical. My boys (Elliot, age 17 and Aiden, age 15) are frequently participating in stage events, both in and outside of school. My daughter Josie, age 12, is a busy middle schooler that loves singing in choir, playing saxophone in band, and participating in dance and theatre in our local community. I, myself, have been a theatre-lover since I was 10 years old and had my first experience performing in an elementary musical called The Trial of the Big Bad Wolf. I even met my husband doing theatre, as we were both involved in shows together in high school! Since that time, we've taken our passion and built a community theatre in the Cambridge-Isanti area. Play Inc Arts started in 2005 with about a $400 budget and a shared dream. Now in its twentieth season, Play Inc Arts is producing a full season of shows and has developed a solid reputation, both with performers and members of the audience!
